Individual Therapy for Teens & Adults

People come to me seeking help for a wide variety of issues. I work with individuals who are experiencing life transitions and periods of adjustment, anxiety, trauma, loss & grief, depression, stress management, relationship issues, performance blocks, career/work concerns, parenting and personal growth.

I view therapy as a partnership between us; a partnership that involves your active involvement and participation.  Therapy is not always easy, but the benefits of therapy have been shown by scientists in hundreds of well-designed studies.  People who are depressed may find their mood lifting.  Others may no longer feel afraid, angry, or anxious.  Client relationships and coping skills may improve greatly. Personal goals and values become clearer.  Clients grow in the ability to enjoy their lives.  I have great hope and optimism that therapy can have a positive impact on your life, as well.

Seeking therapy is an act of great courage.   Whether you are looking for hope after loss or trauma, or you are just ready to move in a new life direction, it would be an honor to walk this path with you.

Therapy

As a relational-cultural therapist, I view you as the expert in your life. In my work, I strive to build an authentic and healing relationship that fosters trust & growth. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, and I work to understand your life from a holistic perspective combining complimentary methods like relational therapy and EMDR. It is an honor for me to hold space for you as you process life's more challenging issues, and gain new perspective on what may be holding you back from a more fulfilling & meaningful life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR therapy is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches.

EMDR therapy has been declared an effective form of trauma treatment by a wide range of organizations. In the United States, these include the American Psychiatric Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and the World Health Organization.
